Requirements for Safe Play / Activities

Kingsport Rec Soccer has set parameters for activities according to local, State and Federal guidelines - and according to Tennessee State Soccer Association's Return to Play Guidelines - as follows:

  • Activities will follow a staged (or phased) approach, much like the reopening of the economy. As local, State and Federal guidelines - and Tennessee State Soccer Association's Return to Play Guidelines - are modified, Kingsport Rec Soccer's parameters for activities will be modified accordingly. (Kingsport Rec Soccer cannot guarantee games will be played during the 'Spring Season'.)

  • Activities will be held for one hour - with 30 minutes between sessions to avoid large groups congregating between sessions.

  • Fields will be divided in quadrants to provide adequate field space for social distancing- with no more than eight players and one coach per quadrant.

  • Everyone - parents, players and coaches - is asked to maintain social distancing of at least six feet at all times.

  • Players must bring their own ball, water bottle and hand sanitizer to each activities session.
  • Coaches, Coordinators and Directors will help ensure the health and safety of the players - and will follow all State and local protocols - while having fun and fostering a love of the game.

Prior to Activities

  • Parents are asked to check their child’s temperature prior to any activities session.
  • Parents are asked to keep their child home should their child feel sick - and notify the Director immediately.
  • Everyone - parents, players and coaches - should wash their hands before arriving at Eastman Park.
  • Parents and coaches will ensure all equipment, cleats, balls, shin guards, etc. are sanitized before every activities session.
  • Limited or no carpooling.

Arrival to Activities

  • Parents, players and coaches are asked not to congregate on the field or in the parking lot prior to activities.
  • Parents are asked to stay in their car during activities - and to wear a mask when outside the vehicle.

U4-U10 - Parents are asked to walk their player to the field - and to return to their car. At the end of activities, parents will return to the field for pickup, while maintaining social distancing and being mindful not to loiter. 

 U11+ - Parents are asked to drop off / pick up in the parking lot - allowing their player to make their own way to and from the field.

  • Players are encouraged to wear a mask until activities begin.
  • When players arrive, coaches will ask how they feel. Coaches must send a player home if they look or act sick.
  • Coaches will instruct players where to place any personal belongings. Personal belongings will be placed at least six feet apart.
  • Before activities begin, players and coaches will sanitize their hands.
  • Parents / players are not to assist coaches with equipment / setup.

During Activities

  • Coaches are encouraged to wear masks when not actively coaching.
  • Only coaches will touch field equipment.
  • Coaches will ensure all players have their individual equipment - ball, water bottle, hand sanitizer, etc.
  • Players should not share or touch each other's personal belongings - ball, water bottle, snack, etc.
  • Practice vests / bibs / pinnies will not be used.
  • There will not be small sided games or exercises / drills with contact between players.
  • Social distancing of six feet will be maintained between players and coaches.
  • No group celebrations. No high fives, hugs, handshakes, etc.

After Activities

  • Players and coaches will sanitize their hands immediately after activities.
  • Players and coaches are encouraged to wear a mask immediately after activities - until they return to their car.
  • Parents / players are not to assist coaches with equipment / cleanup.
  • Coaches will sanitize all equipment immediately after activities.
  • Everyone - parents, players and coaches - is asked to maintain social distancing when returning to the parking lot.
  • Everyone - parents, players and coaches - is asked not to congregate on the field or in the parking lot after activities.
  • Everyone - parents, players and coaches - should wash their hands as soon as they return home.
  • Parents should ensure all equipment, cleats, balls, shin guards, etc. are sanitized after every activities session.
  • Parents should ensure child's clothing is washed after every activities session.
  • Parents should notify the Director immediately if their child becomes ill for any reason.

So, What Will Activities Look Like?

  • Activities will support a player working on skills with their ball.
  • Players may play within a given area that separates them and activity with the ball from others.
  • Players may play linearly between cones that are separated by the required distance.
  • Players may play passing balls in groups - provided they are not picking up the ball and are separated by the required distance.
  • Activities may include games that involve distancing and no contact (The creative coach will excel here.)
  • Soccer games are NOT permitted in this phase. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 are not permitted due to social distancing guidelines.

Again

As local, State and Federal guidelines - and Tennessee State Soccer Association's Return to Play Guidelines - are modified, the above parameters for activities will be modified accordingly.

Please be flexible as Kingsport Rec Soccer implements any new parameters for activities according to guidelines.

Please be aware changes to the above parameters could occur as early as June 1. 

Kingsport Rec Soccer cannot guarantee games will be played during the 'Spring Season'.

The Fine Print

Until COVID-19 is either eradicated, a vaccine is developed, or a cure is found, there is no way of eliminating the risk of infection. The risks of participation should be considered and understood prior to participation in Kingsport Rec Soccer's activities / program. No one is required to participate.

Saturdays may be added to the schedule if local, State and Federal guidelines -
as well as Tennessee State Soccer Association's Return to Play Guidelines - allow for soccer games.
